On a hot and humid day away at Steep CC, Saturday 8th August, we won the toss & elected to bat. Although the wicket looked dry and good it proved unpredictable from the get go with a springy bounce as well as low bounce! There was a gritty opening stand made by Rich Harvey (13) and Anthony White (22) followed by steadying performances from the resurrected David Oliver (29) and a composed Toby Flack (25). The stand-out innings was from Sam Harvey with 45 runs who intelligently manipulated the strike to gets us into a fair position of 161 all out in the 38th over. Dylan Grimes and Luke Anstey opened the bowling and pegged the openers down. Great bowling by both young players. A wicket for Dylan Grimes in his first over, ending with 1 for 25 runs off 7 overs, and a wicket for Luke Anstey in his second over, ending with 1 for 16 off 4. Man-of-the match Sam Harvey took a wicket maiden in his third over ending with 3 for 19 off 5. Taskin Akash bowled well again taking 3 for 12 runs off 5 overs. Henry Amis made up for a low ball which trapped him LBW early on in his innings, by taking 2 for 9 off 3 overs. Liphook & Ripsley IIs skittled Steep all out for 81 in 24.1 overs.
