Liphook & Ripsley’s 1st XI can thank an exemplary batting performance for their resounding 8 wkt home win over Langley Manor.
Put into bat, Langley reached a respectable 195 all out in 48.3 overs. They were, however, without a commanding single innings that might have put them in control: Nick Doubell contributed 37 and Jordie Smith a late 25. The Liphook attack managed to take a wicket as each new partnership developed. Seamers Dan Harvey 3-26, Chaz Janczur 2-33, Suman Ganguly 2-41 were the chief wicket-takers, with Sean Burton, Sam Harvey and George Neave claiming one each. Harry Munt took 3 catches in the outfield.
In reply, a promising outlook for Liphook was provided by an opening stand of 60. Chris Martin 33 was in fluent form before being being ct & b by Doubell. Rob Nicklin went on to score a 6 four 44 before he too was dismissed by Doubell: 107-2.
Harry Munt 48, looking to regain some of last season’s outstanding form, started carefully. He was unlucky not to reach his half century before the target was reached at 196-2. His undefeated partnership of 89 shared a with a typically attacking 7 boundary 51 in even time from No 4 Suman Ganguly put the result beyond any doubt with Liphook bagging maximum points.
